With the holidays approaching, there are numerous accessory options to give as presents.
It can be difficult to purchase clothes for a present unless one’s certain of size and preference, but accessories always make a welcome holiday or birthday gift. There’s also a flexibility regarding price point; shops as varied as Forever 21 and Tiffany all offer both up-to-the-minute and classic accessories. HatsWith the increase of feminine looks on both fall and spring runway shows, hats are an accessory currently making a comeback. Hats can be both girlie or funky, depending on the style, color and fabric. Berets are a cute look for fall through spring, and are usually available in a variety of fabrics or colors -- knit berets are good for cold weather; leather berets add a quirk to the standard French chic look. For those that enjoy knitting, a hat can be made for the price of yarn and needles (which isn’t exactly inexpensive, though certain yarns are less pricey than others; and yarns also can be found on sale or a discount, especially on websites.) There are numerous hat patterns available, though the simplest to make is the “beanie” style. With a multi-colored yarn, this can look more advanced than it really is. For an added touch, the knitter can sew sequins onto the hat or add a sparkly pin before giving it to the wearer. ScarvesScarves also don’t seem to be disappearing anytime soon. This is another option that can either be made (knit or crocheted) or bought. Scarves are no longer a “winter look”; hot days of last summer routinely welcomed lightweight, gauzy scarves. Again, scarves have the option of various colors, fabrics and styles (for example, fringe or no fringe?) Someone who favors classic looks may prefer a solid or ombre scarf, while patterned scarves may suit those who want to jazz up jeans and a shirt. Day Planner or WalletHere’s an accessory that is carried as opposed to worn. This can be a good purchase for a woman or man. If they already own a favorite wallet, consider buying one that serves a specific purpose -- such as an extremely thin wallet for when a woman wants to carry a tiny clutch or a man needs to carry only a small amount of money and credit cards. Day planners can be a little more colorful or patterned than a wallet, especially since it’s not as “seen” by others as a wallet. A great source for planners is Filofax, which offers a huge selection of sizes and colors. There’s also preferences for paper color, and exactly which type of papers are to be included (such as a per-day or per-week planner, address pages, blank pages, notebook pages.) Great GiftsWith the holiday season approaching, these are just a few options of possible accessory gifts. Jewelry is an obvious choice -- necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pins. Purses are another idea; even with the amount of multi-thousand dollar handbags, there are still inexpensive and pretty clutches and wristlets available in department stores or boutiques.
