This summer and fall season clutches take on a shaggy-dog look, whilst shoulder bags take on a hobo and boho look with fashionable, free spirited fringes.
Fringes adorn boots, flats and pumps, Pocahontis-style, with fall’s shoe-boots and winter footwear, and summer slingback sandals with tassels and fashionable fringing. Gucci’s fall 2008 ready-to-wear collection of flying leather fringes on hobo shoulder bags and Russian Cossack-style long fringe-tassel boots. According to Fashionizing.com, “Fringed boots are the defining feature of the trend, with other details like studs and tooled leather adding to the crafty, bohemian feel.” Balmain and Anna Sui join Gucci in their sophisticated and casual chic fringed runway looks with short-fringed ankle boots and knee-highs.
The fringe trend currently hitting the stores means we are seeing a revival of '60s and '70s tassel trims and yeti-like fringing. However, whether you favor a hippy, or chic bohemian look, then you may be tempted to pull on a pair of Balmain moccasin-fringe ankle boots or carry the contents of your life in a shaggy Cavalli clutch.
